About

Jay Huerbin

Well, I’m a 21-year-old student, who after roughly three or four changes in my major, finally settled in on journalism. Come next spring, I will be finished with my time at the University of Pittsburgh and will be heading into the real world. I’m not sure where I’ll be or what I’m doing, but I don’t think very many journalists know where their field is heading either.

Still, I feel good and confident that everything will come together. Newspapers are dying. Journalism is not. Old media is out and new media is in. If you’re a journalist like me, you look at these times with optimism because there are so many exciting things that can happen in this field. It’s just a matter of time before everything (read: money) gets sorted out.

For now, I’m the sports editor at Pitt’s student newspaper, The Pitt News, and will hopefully have a nice internship in the spring. I’ll let you know where it is if I get it.
